Good afternoon,
In the past 20 years Feng Shui has emerged in the West to teach people how to bring balance and harmony to their lives by the strategic placement of their stuff.

The ancient belief system Feng Shui began in Tibet many centuries ago. It is the study of how to create harmony between the energy of the earth and the human body, and how to use the energy of our surroundings to nurture and support ourselves. It is the practice of intuitive adjustments of visible and invisible elements to realign the energy of an environment. The loose translation of Feng Shui is wind and water. Feng represents the wind that carries the chi throughout a space. Shui is the water that meanders underneath the earth transporting chi.

Chi is the invisible energy that surrounds us. This energy cannot be felt, seen, or heard but it influences all living things. Chi should flow effortlessly around physical structures to bring balance and harmony. Feng Shui was invented, thousands of years ago to ensure the flow of chi would bring positive vibrations not negative ones that could create discord and chaos. Chi also known as qi, prana and energy is all around us moving at a variety of speeds. Happy, optimistic chi moves at a quicker rate than depressing chi that is slow and lethargic. Our senses to feel this energy lays dormant in most of us because it is a lost art. I shall now explain an exercise for beginners that will allow you to reacquaint yourself with chi.

1. Rub your hands briskly together for 1-2 minutes.
2. Pull your hands apart approximately 12 inches.
3. Bring the hands together slowly without touching the palms together.
4. Continue to push and pull your hands together like an accordion. You should be able to feel pressure between your hands.
5. Repeat daily to increase your sensitivity in feeling chi.

Feng Shui should be practiced by anyone who wants to remove the chaos from their life and invite in balance and harmony. Often our lives are over scheduled and our life goals are difficult to achieve because we have our hands in too many pots. Feng shui proposes simple and inexpensive changes to your day-to-day environment and can significantly improve your health and vitality and your whole life will benefit from a much needed boost. When people apply these simple techniques, many are delighted with the improvements they experience: Deep refreshing sleep, higher energy levels, clarity of mind, more fulfilling relationships, enhanced creativity, greater recognition and prosperity.

Walk around the house as if you were seeing it for the first time. Where does clutter gather? Make note of it. Purge old, unused and unloved items.

Feng Shui should be practiced by anyone who has an open mind and heart. Feng Shui can be utilized by all, as it is about changing the environment to match your life goals. It is not by believing in a specific God or way of living. All of the cures can be tailored to your way of living. Many of the Feng Shui cures are a result of the Chinese culture but they can all be adapted to your culture and spiritual beliefs. The three legged toad that symbolism wealth in China is similar to the pot of gold that symbolizes wealth in Scotland.

If you are wanting more out of life and to stop the chaos, then Feng Shui is a great tool to begin your journey to achieve your life goals. Feng Shui can aid you in getting married or for having a successful dinner party. This ancient art is about changing the chi in your home to make you successful in achieving your goals.

Our homes are overflowing with clutter, often our solution is to move to bigger homes but the clutter continues to remain. You can clean a room dozens of times but if you do not examine the clutter it will continue to multiply. Each level of the home represents the past(basement), present(main level)and future(upper level).

Remember, the layout of our homes is an expression of our intentions and Feng shui aims at bringing balance and harmony to a physical space. When our physical surroundings are balanced our life will be balanced as well.

Now, I'll tell you some tips to improve the energy of your house.

The basement or junkroom represents the past.

The junkroom is the biggest issue. Most people will sort, organize and clean the entire junkroom and within a very short period of time, chaos has returned. Their issue is with the past not the future or the present. As we clean out the junkroom we need to be conscious of the items we keep and why? What is the purpose of keeping old love letters or books that once belonged to our parents.

When we clear out, we have to have no mercy and remove everything that has no purpose for the present. Christmas decorations may remain in boxes as they still have a purpose once a year. The old love letters from a loved one over 15 years ago should make it into the garbage. Every time we find them neatly tucked in a book or a box, we tend to reread them and not be able to dispose of them. After we remove them from the home we shall stop reminiscing about our past and begin to live in the present. A simple act but very powerful. As well, old books belonging to our parents have been there in a hope for a more close bond, so instead of holding onto a past dream, it is better to send the books to them to release the past. Many of the items that end in junkrooms are a part of past because they have been used and there is no purpose for them in the present. Before you clean out your basement for the hundredth time, you need to become aware of why you hold onto the stuff. The aim is to remove all elements of the past that hold us back.

The living room and kitchen or the ground level if we have a two story house level represents the present.

The main level of the home is where we do a great deal of our present living. We eat in the kitchen to fuel the body, we relax in the living room, and each day we enter and exit the home to earn a living to survive. Often the main level becomes chaotic but it is one of the first places we organize. If we are having a party we bring everything to the boxroom or the bedrooms or upper level. This gives the illusion to our guests that our present is balanced. Examine the items that continually clutter the main level living space. Each item in the home has a purpose and it is important you understand this. If the bills continually pile up on the kitchen table, what is this saying? Is it telling you, you are without because the dinner table represents bounty. There is no standard message, as each of us have different experiences and the overflow of bills may have a multitude of meanings for the different people. Organizing the clutter on the main level allows us to live for the moment which is important for us to truly experience life.

The upper level floors represent the future.
Bedrooms are usually located on the upper levels and it is our safe place to dream. In our sleep we dream of tomorrows with no boundaries. If their is chaos upstairs you may fear tomorrow or fear you cannot attain your dreams. Clear out and organize the clutter to give power to your dreams.

That is just an example of how Feng Shui works.
Feng Shui helps people to understand and then take control of the intimate relationship that we all have with our surroundings in order to significantly improve our lives. If you would like discover how to have the flow of life working for you rather than fighting against it, give yourself a break and have a look at the bigger picture of where our life is going. Attending a Feng Shui course or having a Feng Shui consultation is the perfect opportunity to take stock of what you'd like to improve in your life.
